About the event

Founded in 2018 by Alison Webber FRPS, the Monochrome Collective consists of a group of friends who all share a passion for monochrome photography, whether that is digital or film. Once a month the group gets together to share their work and talk about their techniques and ideas in an honest but supportive and constructive way. Some members of the group have worked on specific photographic projects which have then been awarded distinctions from the Royal Photographic Society.

Alison says, “I knew very little about monochrome photography when I started the group, but I was very keen to learn from others and equally to share what I was discovering. I am so pleased to see how the group has gone from strength to strength since its creation seven years ago. We have all learnt a great deal from each other and we are very excited to have this opportunity to show a selection of our work to the public.”

The Dorset Monochrome Collective is putting on its first exhibition of black and white photography between 15th and 21st September.

The theme for the exhibition is ‘The soul of Dorset seen through the eyes of 10 photographers.’ From moody landscapes to graphic urban scenes, the work in the exhibition promises to show an exciting and eclectic portrayal of Dorset with each photographer exhibiting their own unique photographic style.
