About the event

Celebrate 250 years of Jane Austen with a cinematic cultural experience – film, wine, and exclusive access to our Jane Austen: Down to the Sea exhibition in its closing weekend.
As part of the Purbeck Film Festival, Dorset Museum & Art Gallery invites you to celebrate 250 years of Jane Austen with an evening of film, culture, and conversation.
The night begins with a special after-hours viewing of our Jane Austen exhibition, complemented by a glass of wine, before moving into a screening of Pride & Prejudice (2005), starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
This much-loved adaptation of Austen’s classic novel captures the wit, romance, and social tensions of Regency England with elegance and cinematic flair. Nominated for four Academy Awards, it has become a modern favourite for both Austen devotees and newcomers alike.
Visitors will be able to explore the exhibition from 6:30pm (time slots can be booked following your ticket confirmation). The film will start at 7:30pm (run time 2 hrs 9 mins).
