Beautiful Things. For Good.
Welcome to Poundbury Good Things – a volunteer-led project with three simple aims: to celebrate Poundbury, to collaborate with local artists, makers and businesses, and to raise funds for community initiatives.
We bring together art, imagination and community spirit through a joyful collection of artwork-led merchandise, available through local retail partners and at markets and events throughout the year. Our current range includes ceramics, prints, cards, tote bags and much more.
It’s all about good things, made or designed in Poundbury, for good causes.

Creative Inspiration
Our story began with a simple question: what makes Poundbury truly special?
Visitors often mention the architecture, or our Royal connections. But for those who live or work here, Poundbury’s real charm lies in the warmth of its community spirit, its green spaces, and the centuries of heritage beneath our feet.
Each of these themes found its place in the artwork created by resident and volunteer Mary O’Flaherty. The Royal Pavilion, a nod to Poundbury’s distinctive skyline, is balanced by something far older: Maiden Castle, the mighty Iron Age hillfort with its familiar grazing sheep. A garland of wildflowers from The Great Field forms a gentle frame – seed heads and clover, dog rose, dandelion and thistle. At the centre Spirit leaps joyfully over a Celtic heart – a tribute to the ancient past all around us.
Mary’s inspiration for Spirit came from a Roman hare brooch discovered nearby in
Dorchester, now part of the Dorset Museum collection. In Spirit’s hind leg, Mary has subtly placed her artist’s signature: a waxing, full and waning moon symbol, with the letter “M” for Mary placed within. It’s a tiny mark, but one that ties the hare’s ancient symbolism of spiritual renewal to the personal care and craft behind its creation.

The Poundbury Good Things Collection
Everything we create begins with art - bold, playful, and inspired by the character and heritage of Poundbury itself.

Fine Art Prints
Each limited-edition print is signed by the artist Mary O’Flaherty, and comes with an individual Certificate of Authenticity, making it a truly special keepsake.

Christmas Cards
For Christmas, artist Mary O’Flaherty created a brand-new festive design especially for Poundbury Good Things – a joyful celebration of art, community and Christmas spirit. Inspired by the spirit of Poundbury in winter, they’re a little keepsake of beauty, connection and goodwill to share far and wide.

Greetings Cards
We’re proud to keep things as local and sustainable as possible – including our greetings cards which are designed, printed and packaged right here in Poundbury.

Tea Towels
Whether you love the classic simplicity of our Love Poundbury hare or the colourful exuberance of Spirit and Honeywings, our tea towels bring art and joy to everyday moments. Printed on Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cloth, they make washing up just that little bit more enjoyable.

Tote Bags
Our tote bags showcase our original designs, printed using eco-friendly, high-quality water-based inks for lasting colour and durability. Made from lightweight cotton, they’re ideal as a thoughtful gift bag, or simply roll one up and slip it into your coat pocket or handbag for everyday use.

Canvas Shopper
Strong, sturdy and smart – our canvas shopper is the perfect everyday companion. Made from heavyweight 100% cotton canvas, it’s a good looking and sustainable alternative to plastic bags.

Ceramics
Dorset-based potter Liz Kerslake has created a bespoke collection for Poundbury Good Things that’s as beautiful as it is practical. From mugs to coasters, each piece features our beloved Spirit the hare motif.

Candles
Walk through Poundbury on a quiet morning and breathe in the scent of roses climbing Georgian facades, violets carpeting hidden corners, and sweet peas drifting across The Great Field. Hand-poured by The Rhubarb Candle Company of Crown Square, the Love Poundbury candle celebrates the natural beauty woven into our daily lives.

Fundraising for the Pavilion in the Park (PiP)
Every purchase from Poundbury Good Things supports great things happening right here in our community.
Our current fundraising focus is the Pavilion in the Park (PiP) – Poundbury’s award-winning community hub, and home to a wonderful programme of activities for children, young people and those facing isolation or loneliness. The brilliant events and clubs at PiP are free and accessible to everyone, irrespective of age, income or ability.
A candle, a card, a tote bag – they might seem like small things, but together they make a big difference. One good thing at a time, we can help our community thrive.
