A35 Repair Delays and Alternative Routes

Poundbury residents and workers should prepare for extended closures on the A35 due to ongoing repair works delayed by bad weather.

The road, initially set to reopen on June 20, will now remain closed overnight until Saturday, June 28.

Closure details include the section from the East Road roundabout near Bridport to Monkeys Jump roundabout in Dorchester, with closures occurring from 8 PM to 6 AM on weeknights.

Repair work will then proceed to the Dorchester bypass from June 30 to July 11, with further maintenance planned for later in 2025.

While larger vehicles are directed via signed A-road detours, local drivers may consider alternate side routes around Dorchester to reduce disruption. Plan ahead to allow for extra travel time and avoid peak traffic periods.
