Back in time for Spring: New Designs and Community Giving from Poundbury Good Things

After a winter break, the Poundbury Good Things volunteer team is delighted to be returning to the Dorset Farmers' Market this Saturday at Queen Mother Square. The market will be open from 9am until 1pm, and we're very much looking forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new visitors as we kick off another exciting year.

This market is particularly special for us, as this week marks one year since the Poundbury Good Things team first came together for our very first project meeting - when the idea was born. To celebrate this small but meaningful milestone, we'll be giving away a packet of wildflower seeds to our first 20 customers on Saturday. It feels like a fitting way to reflect the spirit of Poundbury Good Things - growth, community, and belonging.

We're especially thrilled to be bringing along a host of beautiful new items in the Poundbury Good Things range. Our first Farmers' Market of the year feels like the perfect moment to introduce something fresh, and we can't wait to share our latest creations with you.

One of the highlights is our brand-new collection, "Landmarks of Poundbury." This range celebrates the unique charm and character of Poundbury through two distinctive designs. "The Plotters' Pest" captures the characterful walled allotments at Middle Farm Way, while "Sirens' Song" draws inspiration from the fountain at Victor Jackson Square, encircled by a whimsical ring of dancing butterflies. Both designs are available as high-quality greetings cards and, for something a little different, as delightful mini wooden jigsaws - perfect as gifts or keepsakes. A third design is already in its final stages, and we look forward to sharing more about it very soon.

We're also excited to debut a special collaboration with Charminster-based Lillie James Designs. Together, we've created a small, bespoke collection of handmade jewellery, including elegant pendant necklaces and earrings. Each piece has been thoughtfully crafted, and with their unique designs and limited availability, we expect them to be very popular - so do come early if you'd like a closer look.

In addition, talented local ceramicist Liz Kerslake has made special edition mugs for us. These beautifully made pieces combine practicality (dishwasher and microwave friendly!) with artistry and make a wonderful addition to any home.

At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to fundraising for the local community. Every purchase from the Poundbury Good Things range - whether at a market, or from one of our retail partners across Poundbury and Dorchester - helps support local initiatives, making a real difference to projects and people close to home. It is the reason why we do what we do.

With the recent spell of warmer weather and the welcome return of sunshine, it feels like the perfect time to be back outdoors and reconnecting with the community. The market has always been a special place for us - not just to showcase our products, but to meet people, hear your thoughts, and share in the creativity that inspires everything we do.

We've made a conscious effort to broaden the appeal of our designs and products this year, while staying true to the charm, nature, and distinctive style that define Mary O'Flaherty's much-loved artwork. Your feedback is incredibly important to us, and we would love to hear what you think about our new additions.

Do come along this Saturday, enjoy the market atmosphere, and say hello - we're so pleased to be back.
