Dorchester Community Church are delighted that the defibrillator that went missing in December after being borrowed from the church in Liscombe Street has been located, reinstalled and returned to service thanks to tireless efforts to track it down.

Liz Meech, the church administrator, said “The defibrillator is an invaluable lifesaving resource for the community and we are so thankful, especially to Dorchester Police, for everyone’s efforts in returning it to us.”

The defibrillator was upgraded in summer 2025, having been funded by Dorchester Rotary Club, Dorchester Lion’s Club, The Round Table and Dorchester Community Church trustees and has been borrowed many times in medical emergencies since then.

Community Public Access Defibrillators are safe, easy-to-use devices designed for anyone to operate without training in the event of a cardiac arrest significantly increasing the chance of survival for someone experiencing a cardiac arrest outside of hospital.

To access the device when needed, call 999, tell the operator your location and they will provide the code for the caller to unlock the panel. The user then needs to turn on the device and follow the automatic voice instructions.

Poundbury has a number of Public Access Defibrillators accessible 24/7 located at:

  • Poundbury Community Trust, Buttermarket

  • Dorchester Community Church, Liscombe Street

  • Poundbury Community Trust, Pavilion in the Park
