I LOVE Public Transport (but wrap up warm)!

Oh the joy of the freedom to move around anywhere, especially if you don't drive or own a car! Going to see the Weymouth fireworks on top of the number 10 meant we saw the best countryside views ever and we didn't sit in a car in traffic. A warm autumn day enticed me again to use the 10 and enjoy a stroll along the beach and lunch in the sun. The number 6 has taken me to shop and explore Dorchester many a time. It has also provided the link to catch the train to London or places nearer. I am always grateful that Poundbury is not like some places where a car is the only means of transport.

Concession cards make journeys more affordable – definitely worth looking into if you're eligible: call the Dorset Bus Pass Information Line at 0300 330 1201, or visit the Dorset Council website for details. I'd love to see the next generation of warm electric buses arrive, and perhaps extended evening services to Poundbury's centre would make pub or cinema trips even more environmentally friendly. I'm thinking of joining the Dorchester Transport Action Group to help shape these improvements!
Top tips for bus users: The real-time information system is brilliant, especially with the Bridport road works causing delays. Check your More Bus or First Bus bus' progress on your phone before leaving home, or pop into a nearby shop while you wait – much cosier than standing in the wind at Queen Mother's Square! More covered bus stops would certainly be welcome additions to Poundbury as the community continues to grow.
My next exploration will be on the X51 to Bridport. Watch this space!
