The Community Association of Poundbury is delighted to announce a brand-new collaboration between Poundbury Good Things and Dorset potter Liz Kerslake, bringing together local creativity, craftsmanship and community purpose.
From her studio in Bradford Peverell, Liz has created a small, bespoke collection exclusively for Poundbury Good Things. The new pieces feature the distinctive hare motif, designed by Poundbury artist and resident Mary O'Flaherty.
The result is a union of Mary's original artwork with Liz's signature, hand-thrown style.
'It's been an interesting challenge to work out how to incorporate Mary's hare design into the curves and surfaces of my ceramics, how to let the motif flow with the form rather than sit on it as a decal, ' Liz said, reflecting on the collaboration.
'The Blue Rutile glaze is a firm favourite of mine, as it breaks beautifully over texture.'

Mary is thrilled to be working with local maker Liz: 'I love to see Spirit the Hare reinterpreted in a tactile, three-dimensional form. Liz's work brings new life to the motif, while staying true to its spirit. The gorgeous blue-green glaze Liz works with has bronze undertones, evoking both the ancient Dorset heritage and natural world that inspire my designs.'
Volunteer Emma Taylor, who is leading Poundbury Good Things, explained how the initiative set out to partner with local artists and makers to create beautiful, meaningful items that reflect our community. 'We're combining that vision with the warmth and tactility of hand-thrown ceramics. Liz's creations are both beautiful and make practical gifts, perfect for the festive season. They're even dishwasher- and microwave-safe too. And yes, there will be a mug we've had so many people ask for one!'
The collection launches this Saturday at the Poundbury Farmers Market, Queen Mother Square (9am–1pm), together with Christmas cards and a new Winter tote bag. Further Christmas event dates will be announced soon.
Every purchase helps fund the programmes run from the Pavilion in the Park, from children's activities and youth engagement to projects supporting those facing isolation.
This collaboration celebrates everything Poundbury Good Things stands for: creativity, community, and craft with purpose.
Do come along, take a look and perhaps pick up one (or more!) items as a gift that gives back.
