Poundbury Good Things Reaches the Shelves!

Our new community-led initiative, Poundbury Good Things, has reached an exciting milestone. We’re delighted to share that Brace of Butchers from Queen Mother Square will be the very first shop to stock Poundbury Good Things, with the full range of merchandise now available.

Created by a small team of volunteers, Poundbury Good Things offers a collection of tea towels, tote bags, greetings cards, framed fine art prints, and candles all using the unique designs created by local artist, Poundbury resident, and volunteer Mary O’Flaherty. The initiative has three simple aims: to celebrate Poundbury, support local artists and makers, and raise money for local community causes. These include programmes for children and young people, and activities that tackle isolation among older residents — all held at the Pavilion in the Park.

“We’re thrilled that Brace of Butchers will be the first to stock Poundbury Good Things. Their support really does mean a huge amount to us — not only does it help bring our project to life, but also because every purchase helps fund local community programmes. To be working with one of Poundbury’s biggest and most trusted retailers feels like a huge step forward, and we’re so excited to see the range on their shelves” Emma Taylor, Volunteer

Ben from Brace of Butchers said, “We’re proud to support this brilliant local initiative. Poundbury Good Things showcases the creativity and spirit of our community, and it’s fantastic to know that sales will directly benefit local causes. We’re excited to be the first to stock the range.”

Thanks to sales and pre-orders taken at the Dorset Food & Arts Festival, Poundbury Good Things has already been able to make a donation towards the programmes at Pavilion in the Park — a promising sign of what’s to come.

This is only the beginning for Poundbury Good Things. With the support of local people, businesses, and visitors, the project will continue to grow and raise funds to help make Poundbury an even better place to live for everyone.
