The Great Field's Brilliant August — Starting This Saturday

Cast your mind back to May 2022, when the Great Field opened for the first time. Thirty acres of green space, 400 trees, 15,000 shrubs, wildflower meadows, a play park, and a lovely pavilion cafe and community space, all created for the community here as a shared outdoor home. What it has become in just three years is a wonderful public venue for park runs, festivals, community days, circus, music, art, and thousands of ordinary afternoons of walking, playing, and sitting in the sun
This August alone, it hosts at least five major events. And it all kicks off this Saturday.

Saturday 1 August: Dorset Food & Arts Festival, 10am–4pm — free entry Facebook event page

Over 80 stalls bring together local award-winning food and drink producers, artists, makers, growers and craftspeople from across Dorset for a free, day-long celebration—with live music providing the perfect soundtrack. From artisan breads and award-winning cheeses to locally produced wines, spirits, ciders and beers, handmade gifts and artwork, this is a genuine celebration of the people and passion behind Dorset's food, farming, art and craft culture.
Our Love Poundbury stall will be there so do come and say hello. We'll have the full Poundbury Good Things range including jigsaws, ceramics, candles, cards and jewellery by local designers and makers, our new Through Your Lens calendars and postcards, and our totes at 25% off as part of our summer festival promotion. We'd also love to tell you more about the Community Association of Poundbury, membership, or volunteering.
And there's more to come throughout the month:
13–17 August — Circus Cortex: Five days of jaw-dropping acrobatics, spectacular stunts, and big-top magic right on the doorstep—a treat for all ages.
20–21 August — Dorchester Inflatable Theme Park: A weekend of bouncy, colourful, high-energy fun that children will be talking about for weeks.
22 August — Music at the Pavilion: An evening of live music in our gorgeous outdoor setting—bring a picnic and settle in.
23 August — Bark in the Park and Paint in the Park: A celebration of Poundbury's four-legged community, with art alongside—and the Love Poundbury stall back again with remaining festival stock.
See you out there!
