Come To The Kite Festival on Saturday 25 July, on the Great Field

We want to remind you that the Dorchester Kite Festival’s postponed date is next week! Let's Go Fly! Kite Festival comes to The Great Field on Saturday 25 July, 11am–4.30pm — and it looks like it's going to be a fantastic day.

We expect the skies above Poundbury to be filled with giant stunt kites, incredible shapes, and the spectacular displays of the White Horse Kite Flyers, with live commentary to bring it all to life. There'll be free kite-making activities for children, a dedicated flying area if you want to bring your own, Art in the Park with prizes courtesy of Art in Poundbury, a selection of market stalls and food, and—a particular highlight—a special reveal of The Big Dorchester Kite. Whatever the weather did last time, this is very much a day to look forward to.

Come and find us—we'd love to meet you

The Love Poundbury team from the Community Association of Poundbury will be there with our stall, and we'd love to see as many familiar and new faces as possible. Whether you're a long-standing member, a new arrival to Poundbury, or a visitor curious about what this community is all about, please do come and say hello.

We'll have the current range of Poundbury Good Things on sale while stocks last:  our locally designed gifts, cards, and keepsakes celebrating everything that makes this place special.

And we're particularly excited to be introducing something brand new on the day: 2027 calendars and note cards featuring photographs from the Love Poundbury Through Your Lens competitionbeautiful images of Poundbury captured by local photographers, now available to take home or give as gifts.

It's also a great opportunity to find out more about CAofP membership, the benefits it brings, and how to get involved as a volunteer if you've been thinking about it.

Getting there

The Great Field is an easy walk from Dorchester town centre: just follow signs to Poundbury. By bike, there's parking near Pips Café and St John Way. By bus, the Number 6 and 10 runs directly from Dorchester South Station to Mansell Square. Please note that on-street parking will likely be limited.
