We're delighted to announce that our pilot doggy bag dispensing scheme is up and running, thanks to the fantastic work of volunteers Norman Reid and Paul Coggins who helped develop the project and installed all seven dispensers. A huge thank you to Paul and Norman for their dedication to making this community initiative a reality!
The dispensers are now available at seven key locations across Poundbury:
* Pummery Square - lamppost by Holmead play area bins
* Woodlands Crescent Green - lamppost by public bin, also serving the Queen Mother Square area
* Middle Farm Way junction with Corston Street - lamppost by public bin
* Pavilion Green - lamppost at the top end
* Coade Square - lamppost nearest Sydenham Square
* Crown Square - lamppost nearest Great Field
* Duke's Parade junction with Hayward Street - lamppost close to Great Field

Each dispenser holds up to ten rolls of bags and features clear information about the nearest disposal points, making it easier than ever for dog owners to do the right thing.

These dispensers are designed as a backup for dog owners who find themselves caught without a bag — they're not intended for regular daily use. Each dispenser clearly indicates where to dispose of waste, whether in your personal bin at home or the nearest public litter bin. The bags are free to use, but we're counting on our community's good sense to use them responsibly.

Community support made this project possible
This pilot has been made possible entirely through the generosity of our local sponsors. Special thanks to Beti and her human, and to Castle Veterinary Practice in Poundbury for their wonderful donations and community-minded support. https://www.castlevets.co.uk/
Their combined contributions have covered the full cost of dispensers, bags, and maintenance for the duration of the project.
