Great news for Sunday travel! The Number 10 is now running every 20 minutes on Sundays via Peverell Avenue West and East, bringing regular bus services right into the heart of Poundbury.
This welcome improvement means residents no longer need to walk to Mansell Square for Sunday bus services. With no Number 6 or X51 running on Sundays, First Bus has extended the Number 10 service following representations by the Dorchester Transport Action Group (DTAG).
Stewart Palmer, chair of DTAG, Councillor William Gibbons, and Chris Madin from the PIP recently celebrated using the new 10:05 service to the town centre and Weymouth. "This is a great improvement for residents," said William Gibbons. "Last winter the nearest working bus stop was in Mansell Square. Please use it or lose it."

X51 Update: While the controversial cuts to the X51 "Jurassic Coaster" service have been withdrawn following community opposition, the full restoration of the proper winter timetable has been delayed until October 26th. Until then, a reduced service continues to operate—a frustrating five-week delay that highlights ongoing challenges in transport planning.
Your Voice Matters—Transport Plan Consultation Closing Soon: With Dorset's Local Transport Plan consultation running until 13 October 2025 Local Transport Plan 2026 to 2041 - Dorset Council, recent events show exactly why community participation in long-term planning is crucial. The X51 situation demonstrates what happens when transport planning lacks proper consultation. The 15-year strategy will shape transport across our region until 2041, determining everything from bus routes to cycling infrastructure. Central Dorset in particular is anticipated to benefit from road upgrades and expanded e-bike schemes. Whether you care about bus services, walking and cycling routes, rural connectivity, or accessibility for all residents, your input will directly influence £243 million of transport investment over the next five years.
