Through Your Lens 2027. One Season Ends, Another Begins.

As summer begins to fade and the first signs of autumn appear around Poundbury, it’s a good time to look back at just how much has happened over the past few months.

It has certainly been a busy summer. We’ve seen colourful kites filling the skies, festivals and community events bringing people together, dogs enjoying their day in the spotlight and – thankfully – some glorious summer sunshine along the way.

But what did you capture?

Perhaps you photographed a kite soaring above the Great Field, a favourite four-legged friend, a busy summer gathering, children enjoying the sunshine, or simply one of those quieter moments that perfectly captures life in Poundbury.

Whatever caught your eye, don’t delete it – save it! That photograph could become an entry in our 2027 Through Your Lens Photography Competition.

And there’s another very good reason to start building your collection.

Our 2026 Through Your Lens Competition gave us a wonderful selection of photographs which have gone on to become the Poundbury 2027 Calendar, a series of notecards and even something rather more exciting that is currently in the pipeline – just in time for Christmas!

We can’t reveal too much about that just yet… but watch this space!

So, who knows? Enter next year and your photograph could be one of those chosen to feature in our 2027 projects.

And as one season ends, another begins.

Autumn will soon bring a completely different character to Poundbury: changing leaves, softer light, misty mornings, autumn skies and those wonderful golden colours that can transform even the most familiar view.

So keep your camera – or your phone – close at hand.

Over the coming months, we’d love you to capture Poundbury through the seasons: the places, people, wildlife, events and everyday moments that tell the story of our community.

You don’t need an expensive camera or specialist equipment. Sometimes the best photographs come simply from being in the right place, noticing something special and pressing the button.

Summer may be ending, but your 2027 Through Your Lens journey could be just beginning.
