Spotlight on Kirsten Sare: Fabulous Makeup Artist with a Passion for People

Kirsten Sare is a Poundbury resident and part of the business community.  As a talented makeup artist for more than 20 years, rather than having a high street shop, Kirsten brings her service directly to people, visiting homes, venues, and events, making her business flexible and personal for local residents.

Experience That Makes a Difference 

Kirsten's work takes her to many different places and introduces her to local brides as well as working in television, film and for editorial publications.  She says the diversity of her work is what keeps it interesting. But at its heart, her business is all about helping people feel confident and comfortable. Many clients mention her calming presence and the way she takes time to listen and understand what they're looking for. 

Honest, Friendly, and Respectful 

Kirsten's approach is all about keeping things real.

"I work with integrity, originality and credibility, and all work is my own and unfiltered. Fundamentally, everything I advertise my business as or showcase is genuine," she explains. She respects her clients' privacy and doesn't share photos or videos of her work without their permission, making her a trusted choice for many. 

Giving Back  

As well as running her own business, Kirsten is the lead volunteer for the national cancer charity Look Good Feel Better.  "Alongside the cancer services team at Dorchester Hospital we run makeup and skin care workshops at a lovely local location, away from the medical environment, which are focused on helping people to manage the cosmetic and physical impact of their treatment. This is incredibly rewarding, and I am so proud of the team and how we help to make a difference," she says.

Workshops and Local Involvement  

Kirsten also offers friendly, makeup workshops, such as her popular 'bring your own makeup bag' sessions, at venues in Poundbury and with other local businesses. These workshops are for anyone who wants to get more comfortable with their own makeup and learn a few new tips, with no experience needed. In addition, she teaches special classes for local groups, including drama clubs. 

If you've never worked with a makeup artist before, Kirsten's advice is reassuring; "You don't need to know exactly what you want, and there's no such thing as right or wrong when it comes to makeup."

She's happy to give advice and work with you to find a look that feels right whether it's for a special day or simply to try something new. 

Supporting Local People 

There's a broad range of small businesses and professionals working around Poundbury—some with shopfronts, and many, like Kirsten, working behind the scenes.
