Meet Your Poundbury Neighbour — Come and Join Us on 27th October
Updated: 10 hours ago
One of the simplest things we can do to make Poundbury feel more like home is also one of the easiest to overlook: actually meeting the people around us. That's the idea behind Meet Your Poundbury Neighbour, the new monthly drop-in social organised by the Community Association of Poundbury, held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Duchess of Cornwall Inn.

We launched the first one on 22 September and were delighted with the response. Sixteen neighbours turned up over the course of the evening — new residents and longer-standing ones alike — alongside five CAofP volunteers. We ran a fun mini-quiz about Poundbury that produced some genuinely surprising answers and, we hope, a few laughs. Whether people came for ten minutes or stayed for the whole evening, the conversations flowed, which was the whole point.
Our next social is Tuesday 27th October, 5–7pm at the Duchess of Cornwall Inn.
No registration required, no agenda, no pressure. Please just come along, buy a drink at the bar, and find us at the front far left-hand side of the pub. Whether you're brand new to Poundbury or have lived here for years and simply want to meet a few more people, you're very welcome.
The evenings are organised by our Volunteer Coordinator Laura Hirst and volunteer Cathy Gainer, two of the warm and welcoming faces you'll find there on the night.
If you'd like to let us know you're coming (which helps us with numbers) please drop a line to volunteering@lovepoundbury.org. But do come along even if you haven't replied. The kettle's always on, or the bar is, at least.
